Litton Das of Bangladesh has departed from India amid the ongoing 2023 ODI World Cup and has returned to Dhaka for personal reasons.
Litton Das of Bangladesh has left India during the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 and has headed back home to Dhaka due to personal reasons. The exact cause for his return remains undisclosed, but it has been confirmed in reports that he is likely to be back in action for their upcoming match against Sri Lanka, which is scheduled for November 6 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
According to the reports, Litton and his wife are expecting their first child, which could be the reason for his mid-tournament departure. Regarding his performance, Litton has had a pretty good run in the tournament so far, accumulating 235 runs, which includes a couple of half-centuries. Nevertheless, the cricketer is set to rejoin the team on November 3, three days ahead of the New Delhi clash.
“Due to his family emergency, Litton took a leave and will join the team ahead of the teams’ training session scheduled on November 3 in Delhi,” Bangladesh Cricket Board’s media and communications manager, Rabeed Imam, was quoted as saying by The Daily Star.
According to an article in The Daily Star, Litton and his spouse are eagerly anticipating the arrival of their first child. It’s worth mentioning that this isn’t the first instance of a Bangladeshi cricketer returning home, as previously, the team’s captain, Shakib Al Hasan, also made a trip back to his homeland. Shakib Al Hasan headed home to get some instructions with his childhood mentor, Nazmul Abedeen Fahim, before rejoining the team shortly after.

The current edition of the ICC World Cup has been a challenging journey for the Bangla Tigers, as they’ve struggled in most of their matches, suffering losses in 6 out of 7 games. Their performance as a team has fallen short of expectations, and they find themselves in the 9th position on the points table.
Shakib Al Hasan and his team were anticipated to shine in this prestigious tournament, especially given the sub-continental setting and the presence of players well-suited to these conditions. However, their collective effort has not met the mark, leading them to be the first team to exit the competition.
