Zainab Abbas, a well-known sports presenter from Pakistan, found herself embroiled in controversy when old social media posts resurfaced, revealing her previous comments that were critical of India and Hinduism.
Zainab Abbas, the well-known sports broadcaster based in Pakistan, found herself in the middle of controversy after some of her earlier social media posts including anti-India and anti-Hindu sentiments emerged. It’s worth noting that Abbas was in India as part of her work with the media fraternity covering the ongoing ODI World Cup in 2023. However, there are rumors circulating that she has safely gone from India and is already in Dubai. This step purportedly happened after an Indian lawyer called Vineet Jindal submitted a complaint regarding several nasty tweets written by Abbas.
Vineet Jindal, a lawyer based in India, has submitted a complaint to the BCCI secretary Jay Shah. Additionally, he switched to his social media account to submit screenshots of Zainab Abbas’ posts along with his complaint. In his claims, Jindal accused Abbas of denigrating the country and the Hindu religion.
In his complaint, Vineet Jindal wrote: “Complaint letter sent by @vineetJindal19 to @BCCI and @HMOIndia seeking removal of Zainab Abbas @ZAbbasOfficial as the presenter at the ICC World Cup 2023 for her derogatory and provocative posts against Bharat and Hindu Dharma. ‘Athiti devo bhava’ only for those who respect our country & Hindu Dharma but Anti Bharatiya are not welcome on Our Land.”
Interestingly, prior to her departure for India, Abbas displayed genuine enthusiasm for delving into the rich tapestry of Indian culture, even though the neighboring countries had a somewhat strained relationship. Furthermore, she harbored the aspiration of remaining there for a minimum of six weeks, specifically until the conclusion of the 2023 ODI World Cup.
“There was always intrigue on what lies on the other side, more cultural similarities than differences, rivals on the field but camaraderie off the field, the same language & love for art & a country with a billion people, here to represent, to create content & bring in expertise from the best in the business. Humbled to be presenting in India at the Cricket WC2023 for the ICC again, a journey away from home of 6 weeks starts now,” Zainab Abbas mentioned in her post on her ‘X’ account.
