Mohammad Kaif, the former Indian cricketer, fondly recalled the brutal innings of Virat Kohli and expressed his belief that the Pakistani pacers would undoubtedly feel the heat while trying to bowl to Kohli.
In the T20 World Cup 2022, the contest between Pakistan and India showcased an outstanding spectacle. Virat Kohli emerged as the star of the show with his magnificent chase. The match concluded in India’s favor on the final delivery, thanks to Kohli’s dazzling performance at the crease. It was his outstanding inning that opened the path for India’s stunning victory.
“Kohli’s performance in Australia at the T20 World Cup, against Pakistan, he played magnificently. And he is a brilliant batsman when it comes to playing against Pakistan. He takes full responsibility and is a chase master,” Mohammad Kaif said on Star Sports.
“The form that he had in that World Cup was because of his performances in the Asia Cup (2022), starting from that century he hit against Afghanistan,” he further added.
Kohli’s remarkable knock of an unbeaten 82 runs off 53 balls at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground undoubtedly ranks among his most hard-fought innings. According to Kohli himself, it stands out as his finest performance in T20Is.
Further, Kaif said: “And the fact that he has played the Pakistani bowlers in their last match at the T20 World Cup, he will know how every Pakistani bowler bowls, whether it is Naseem Shah, Shaheen Shah Afridi, or Haris Rauf.”
“Virat Kohli will be very dangerous against Pakistan,” he further added.
Virat Kohli is set to face Pakistan once again after a significant interval. Despite the fact that India and Pakistan have mostly crossed paths in ICC and Asia Cup games over the last 9 years, Virat Kohli has acquired great expertise when it comes to confronting Pakistani bowlers and the high strain of an India-Pakistan confrontation. Remarkably more often than not, he has emerged triumphant: in 13 ODIs versus Pakistan, Kohli maintains an average of 48, ornamented with 2 hundreds and 2 half-centuries.
