Bangladesh star pace bowler, Ebadot Hossain, will miss the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 due to a knee injury he suffered during the recently concluded series against Afghanistan.
Bangladesh are scheduled to play Sri Lanka in their opening match in the Asia Cup on August 31 in Pallekele. The team is placed in Group B, against Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. On September 3, there will be a confrontation with Afghanistan in Lahore.
Tragically, Ebadot’s journey became more challenging when he suffered a serious anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury during the just-completed series against Afghanistan. The severity of the injury was confirmed by BCB’s top sports physician, Dr. Debashis Chowdhury. Ebadot will, regrettably, be unable to take part in the 2023 Asia Cup tournament.
“Ebadot had undergone six weeks of rehab following the injury. We have had multiple MRIs done during this time and the reports suggest that his ACL is still a concern and requires further management. Therefore, he misses out on the Asia Cup.”
“Considering the importance of the Bangladesh team’s next major event, which is the ICC World Cup in October, the BCB is committed to exploring every safe medical option available for getting Ebadot back to full fitness and playing as early as possible, including consultation and treatment overseas,” Debasis Chowdhury told Daily Star.
