Team India’s veteran off-spinner and spin wizard, Ravi Ashwin has given a solid statement on England’s bazball approach ahead of their India tour which is scheduled to start in January 2024. Ashwin said, “England are playing a very exciting brand of cricket that has excited a lot of people around the world.”
Under the leadership of Brendon McCullum and the captaincy of Ben Stokes, England’s performance has experienced a setback in four out of their last 18 matches. This decline came on the heels of a dismal defeat at the 2021 Ashes held in Australia.
In response, the England Test team experienced considerable modifications. Joe Root relinquished his job as skipper, while Chris Silverwood was dismissed from his duties as head coach.
During the 2023 Ashes series on their home turf, England experienced successive losses but managed to orchestrate a spectacular turnaround, clinching victory in the third game.
Despite a stalemate in the fourth game, England emerged victorious in the fifth and final match, restricting Australia’s attempt to achieve an Ashes victory and further showcasing their assertive and aggressive cricketing style.
Similarly, the veteran Indian off-spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin, openly voiced his respect for England’s Bazball technique. He enthusiastically expects England’s impending Test series tour to India in 2024.
Ashwin commended England’s effective implementation of a remarkable cricketing style. The 36-year-old emphasized England’s recent triumphs while also appreciating India’s excellent results.
“England are playing a very exciting brand of cricket that has excited a lot of people around the world. On the other hand, we have been extremely consistent and successful in recent years,” Ashwin was quoted as saying by India Today.
Under the leadership of Ben Stokes, the team will be preparing for an upcoming five-match Test series against India slated for January to March next year. Expressing his optimism, Ravichandran Ashwin remarked that he is excitedly looking forward to the Test series against England.
“I cannot wait for them to come here and I don’t think they are going to take one foot backward, they will continue to play the way they play. It wouldn’t be an overstatement if I say that England is possibly the team to beat at this point of time,” Ashwin concluded.
