Star Pakistani batter Babar Azam has revealed that the Lanka Premier League will help him in his preparation for the ODI series against Afghanistan and including both the major tournaments like Asia Cup and World Cup.
Babar Azam, the standout batsman, has been in remarkable form and aims to continue his prolific run-scoring spree for Colombo Strikers in the Lanka Premier League 2023. This tournament holds special significance for him, not only as a platform to showcase his skills but also as a valuable learning experience for the young players participating in the league.
Participating in the Lanka Premier League for the first time, the Pakistani skipper is filled with excitement to take the field and engage in competitive matches. For Babar, this event serves as an excellent opportunity to fine-tune his performance and prepare ahead for upcoming series and major tournaments.
By featuring in the Lanka Premier League, Babar Azam seeks to make a significant impact and set an example for emerging talents, showcasing the importance of perseverance and skill in the game of cricket. The league promises to be a thrilling journey for both seasoned players like Babar and the young, promising talents aiming to make a mark on the cricketing stage.
“This is my first league and I am looking forward to play all the matches. I joined the team a couple of days back and felt really happy after meeting my teammates. We have a young team and everyone is looking forward to give their best, improve and perform well for the franchise,” commented Babar Azam.
“My mindset is always positive. I will give my 100% to Colombo Strikers. We have a good range of players, a good combination of seniors and juniors on the side. Dickwella and I play a lot of cricket together and know each other well. I think 4-5 from the team will be playing for Sri Lanka, that’s good for us, good for their team and good for youngsters to learn new things from experienced senior players. When you share a dressing room with senior players you take positive things.” he further added.
In addition, Babar Azam emphasized that his participation in the Lanka Premier League 2023 holds immense value as it offers him the opportunity to adapt and familiarize himself with diverse playing conditions prevalent in the Asian subcontinent. This aspect is especially crucial since several major international tournaments, including the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 and the Asia Cup, are scheduled to take place in the subcontinent region.
“Whenever you play different leagues, in different conditions you end up learning a lot. I try my level best to perform well. I adapt to different conditions while facing different bowlers from Asia because we have a lot of cricket coming up in Asia. We have Asia Cup, the Afghanistan series and the World Cup as well. I will try to focus, adapt to the conditions, and face good spinners to prepare for these upcoming big tournaments,” he concluded.
