Scotland become the second team after Ireland to qualify for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, they sealed their spot after beating Denmark by 33 runs in the ICC Men’s T20 Qualifiers which is taking place in Europe. Ireland was the first team from this World Cup Qualifiers to seal their spot in the upcoming edition of the Men’s T20 World Cup which is scheduled to take place in England instead of USA and West Indies as per the reports.
Scotland has secured a spot in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, making them the second team to do so during the ongoing Europe Qualifier. They achieved this feat by defeating Denmark by 33 runs at the Grange Cricket Club in Edinburgh.
Throughout the tournament, Scotland displayed an impressive performance, winning all their matches against Germany, Jersey, Italy, Austria, and Denmark. With 10 points from five games, they have booked their place in the T20 World Cup tournament in 2024.
Earlier, Ireland became the first team to qualify after their match against Germany was abandoned. This success is a great redemption for Scotland, as they missed out on qualifying for the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 in India.
Scotland kicked off their campaign with a remarkable 72-run win against Germany using the DLS method. They followed it up with a close 14-run victory against Jersey and a dominant performance against Italy, where they won by a massive 155 runs after setting a target of 245/2. Their winning streak continued with a convincing 166-run triumph over Austria.
The final qualification came when Scotland defeated Denmark by 33 runs in a rain-affected match, which was reduced to 18 overs per side. With their outstanding performances, Scotland is all set to compete in the T20 World Cup 2024.
The last match of the T20 Qualifiers between Scotland and Ireland is yet to be played. Scotland have come to dominate the tournament and they are yet to lose a match whereas Ireland have also shown their impeccable spirit and determination for the qualification, they also haven’t lost any matches except their one match against Germany got washed out due to rain.
