Andre Russell smoked a Monstrous 108-Meter Long Six against San Francisco Unicorns.
Andre Russell who is a part of the Los Angeles Knight Riders in the inaugural edition of Major League Cricket has been entertaining the American Crowd with his power-hitting abilities.
Russell who is also a part of the KKR squad in IPL was drafted into Knight Riders’ franchise, Los Angeles Knight Riders, for Major League Cricket along with his team-mate Sunil Narine where Sunil Narine was named the Captain of Los Angeles Knight Riders.
He has played three knocks, two of which have seen his destruction and wrath on his opponents with scores of 55 off 34 balls against Texas Super Kings, and recently 42* off 26 balls against the San Francisco Unicorns.
Despite Russell’s heroic knocks with both bat and ball in league matches, Los Angeles Knight Riders have not won a single match in the tournament and are on the verge of finishing the tournament at the very last spot. With the kind of performances they have put in, they are not even close to qualifying for the playoffs in the tournament.
In the game against San Francisco Unicorns, with the chase getting tight, Russell then hammered their striking bowler Haris Rauf for a Monstrous 108-Meter six over the leg side. It was the first ball of the 19th over when LAKR needed 50 runs off 12 balls. This was the longest six of the tournament so far, beating the previous record of 106 meters by Dwayne Bravo, who had hit Anrich Nortje for an enormous hit a couple of days ago.
The chase was going terrific, where LAKR tried hard with an unbeaten sixth wicket partnership of 75 runs off 41 balls between Andre Russell and skipper Sunil Narine but fell short to chase it down within the 20 overs.
Batting first, the San Francisco Unicorns got a great start from Matthew Wade, who scored 78 off 41 with five sixes and seven fours. Marcus Stoinis (37 off 18) and Corey Anderson (39 off 20) also played good innings. SFU ended up scoring a massive total of 212/7 in the first innings.
This was the 8th match of the inaugural season of the Major Cricket League 2023 where we got to see some run hammering machines in the form of Andre Russell and Matthew Wade. This was also the first match where a total of 403 runs were scored in the 40 overs.
